This location has always been one of my favorites because of the friendly staff and great customer service. My family and I were driving from Palatine last night and decided not to stop at any other location because we always enjoy coming here. We arrived around 9:30 PM to order milkshakes. When I pulled up to place my order, I was told over the speaker that they couldn’t make shakes because they were only 10 minutes away from closing. I politely mentioned that I thought the store closed at 10:00 PM and that there were still about 30 minutes left. After that, the employee said they would go ahead and make them. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The milkshakes we received were very runny and lacked the usual thick consistency and quality that we have come to expect from this location. It felt like the shakes may have been rushed or not prepared properly. I truly hope this was just an isolated incident because this has always been a great location with excellent service. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes that management can address it and help ensure future customers continue to receive the quality experience this location is known for.

Similar to the other recent reviews, I had an absolutely horrible customer service experience here recently. We’re longtime customers and not only did I have to wait 30+ mins at the drive thru (I had already been charged), but then I was finally able to get their attention, the cashier and manager were extremely rude. The eye rolling, snarkiness and talking down to me (+ other customers) was bad enough that I won’t be returning. Sad because I love their ice cream but Andy’s is right down the street and they’re much kinder and appreciative towards their customers.

Friday night, we went out for a banana split and a classic strawberry sundae. When we arrived, we had to wait quite a while to place our order, even though we were the only ones in line. It was understandable, though, as they were quite busy. We ordered one banana split and one strawberry classic sundae. They handed us the sundae, but it wasn't strawberry-flavored as we had requested; instead, it was vanilla. "That's fine," we said. A short while later, they brought out the banana split, and at that moment, I realized they had charged me for two banana splits. I went up to the counter and tried to explain the situation to one of the employees. She told me, "I'm not the manager." I replied, "I don't need the manager; I just want you to see that I was charged for two items when I only ordered one." The employee who had served me initially then came over—displaying a bad attitude and rolling her eyes—and said, "Yes, I'll void the charge, and the money will be credited back to your account." She then walked away, leaving me standing there mid-sentence, and didn't give me a refund receipt or any other documentation. As of tonight, the extra $10 she charged me has still not been refunded

Great spot for ice cream! Super creamy and rich, with fresh waffle cones that make it even better. The place feels cozy and the staff are always friendly. A bit pricier than average, but worth it for the quality.

Do you love the 50’s malt shop feel? Love a good gallon of fresh chocolate milk? Need a place to swing by after your little league game just won the championship? We’ll look no further than the oberweiss on Randall. Plenty of seating with chess boards for the strong minded. They have outdoor seating or jus enjoy a good old fashioned ice cream cone on the curb. You’ll love everything but bring your used ‘oberweiss’ milk containers back to the store so you can redeem them for free ice cream!
